Technical Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager who can own delivery while helping shape the solution. This role is designed for a strong project leader who can translate business objectives into technical requirements, coordinate technical teams, guide solution architecture decisions, and present recommendations clearly to executive and technical audiences.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable facilitating a discovery workshop, building an integrated project plan, reviewing a proposed architecture, leading a steering committee presentation, and driving teams toward measurable outcomes. This is a full-time exempt role.

What Success Looks Like

  • Projects are delivered with clear scope, ownership, milestones, risks, decisions, and success measures.

  • Solutions are aligned to business requirements, technically feasible, secure, supportable, and ready for adoption.

  • Clients and internal leaders receive concise, visually clear presentations that enable timely decisions.

  • Technical teams understand priorities, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and the business context behind the work.

  • Project lessons are captured and used to improve delivery standards, templates, and repeatable offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Delivery

  • Project Planning: Develop and maintain project charters, work plans, schedules, resource plans, budgets, governance routines, and acceptance criteria.

  • Execution Management: Lead projects from discovery and design through implementation, testing, training, handoff, and closeout.

  • Scope and Change Control: Establish clear requirements and manage changes to scope, timeline, budget, resources, and expected outcomes.

  • Risk and Dependency Management: Identify risks, issues, assumptions, and cross-project dependencies early; assign owners and drive mitigation.

  • Delivery Governance: Facilitate project meetings, maintain decision and action logs, track project health, and escalate blockers with recommended options.

  • Financial Management: Monitor project effort and budget, validate forecasts, and support accurate customer and internal reporting.

Solution Architecture and Technical Alignment

  • Discovery and Requirements: Facilitate structured discovery sessions to document business processes, user needs, functional requirements, technical constraints, integrations, data considerations, and desired outcomes.

  • Solution Design: Partner with engineers, consultants, and stakeholders to translate requirements into practical solution designs, implementation approaches, and phased roadmaps.

  • Architecture Artifacts: Develop or coordinate current-state and future-state diagrams, integration maps, data flows, environment plans, dependency views, and solution decision records.

  • Technical Quality: Ensure proposed solutions are reviewed for feasibility, security, scalability, maintainability, operational readiness, and alignment with customer standards.

  • Traceability: Maintain clear linkage between business requirements, solution components, project deliverables, testing, and acceptance.

Client Leadership and Presentations

  • Executive Communication: Translate complex technical information into clear business language, decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and recommended next steps.

  • Presentation Development: Create polished discovery readouts, solution overviews, roadmaps, architecture presentations, status reports, steering committee materials, and executive summaries.

  • Facilitation: Lead customer workshops, project kickoffs, design reviews, status meetings, demonstrations, and closeout sessions with confidence.

  • Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships, align diverse stakeholders, manage expectations, and maintain transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Adoption and Handoff: Coordinate training, documentation, change readiness, operational transition, and post-implementation support.

Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate internal resources, technical delivery teams, and third-party vendors without losing accountability between groups.

  • Create clarity around roles, deliverables, priorities, and deadlines; follow through on commitments and unresolved decisions.

  • Partner with service delivery and managed services teams to ensure solutions can be supported after implementation.

  • Conduct post-project reviews and convert lessons learned into improved methods, templates, and reusable solution assets.

  • Model a customer-obsessed, proactive, and learn-it-all mindset.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of project management experience in IT, consulting, professional services, managed services, or a related technology environment.

  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Technical Acumen: Ability to understand cloud, infrastructure, security, business applications, data, integrations, identity, and end-user technology concepts well enough to guide discovery and coordinate solution decisions.

  • Solution Architecture: Experience documenting requirements and translating them into solution approaches, diagrams, implementation phases, and technical workstreams.

  • Presentation Skills: Strong written, verbal, visual storytelling, facilitation, and executive presentation capabilities.

  • Leadership: Strong ownership, judgment, organization, problem-solving, and the ability to lead through influence.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, project management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster, or comparable project management certification.

  • Experience delivering Microsoft cloud or business application initiatives, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, security, Copilot, or related solutions.

  • Experience with architecture and process-mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or comparable platforms.

  • Proficiency with project and work management platforms such as Microsoft Project, Planner, Azure DevOps, Asana, Trello, or comparable tools.

  • Experience presenting to executives, technical leaders, business owners, and end users.

  • Consulting or managed services experience supporting small and mid-size organizations.
